Children's Science Instructor & Session Planner

Fun Science is looking for an entertaining fun scientist to join our after school club and office team, mainly running science themed after school clubs for young children in and around Bath, Bristol and Wiltshire, but also taking charge of kit packing and assisting with organisation in the office. We require someone with strong organisational skills who is forward thinking, efficient and self-sufficient. If suited to the candidate, there will also be the opportunity to get involved working 1:1 with children with additional needs.

You will primarily be running after school clubs for children aged 5-11 but also spend time in our Bath office with our small, friendly team, packing kits for our sessions and testing experiments. You will also have the opportunity to be part of the general development and organisation of the business, helping to shape the way we make science fun for children.

This role will be term-time only, but you will also have the opportunity to perform at large festivals and events, and to work within our holiday club or parties team as well, which will offer additional hours.

Own transport is essential, as is an entertaining, enthusiastic personality! You will be given all the equipment and training needed to run activities including chemical reactions, slime making, hair raising and rocket launches. Experience working with children is essential. Scientific knowledge is not essential as this can be taught. You may be asked to travel up to 20 miles from Bristol but most sessions will be closer to Bristol or your home address if you are not Bristol-based.

Salary & Hours

We are offering this role as either full-time, or part-time. Details outlined below:

Full-time:

• £22,955 per annum – based on 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 4.30pm, term-time only (39 weeks per year) with the potential to increase after 6 months
• 5 after school clubs a week and at least 6 hours of alternative provision
• This equates to a full-time equivalent (FTE) salary of approximately £30,600 per annum
• Salary is paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Part-time:

• 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 12.30-4.30pm, term-time only
• 5 after school clubs a week
• Approx. £13,100 per annum, pro rata

For either position, we are able to guarantee 24 days of holiday club work, leading our clubs for an additional £3,168 added to your salary per annum. For this, you would be required to commit to the holiday club dates in advance.'

Candidate Specification

• 1 year of voluntary or paid experience working with children (required)
• Driving licence & access to your own transport (required)
• Experience working within a school setting (preferred)
