Isle of Man Government

The Isle of Man government is a constitutional monarchy, with a parliamentary system. It operates under the sovereignty of the British Crown, but it is a self-governing dependency with its own legislature, the Tynwald, which is one of the oldest continuous parliamentary bodies in the world, dating back to 979 AD. The government is responsible for most domestic affairs, such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure, while the UK handles matters related to defense and foreign affairs.

The Isle of Man's government is structured with an executive branch led by the Chief Minister and a legislative assembly consisting of two chambers: the House of Keys and the Legislative Council. The government also administers a range of public services, including transport, social security, and economic development, which plays a critical role in sustaining the island’s unique status as a low-tax jurisdiction and a hub for financial services and technology.
