LET Electrical & Renewables is a growing, family-run solar PV, battery storage and EV installation company based in Poole.

Since 2019, we have built our reputation on quality installations, honest advice and excellent customer service. Our installation diary is consistently busy, and we are looking for an experienced electrician to join our in-house team.

This is an electrical installation role. You will not be responsible for installing solar panels on the roof. Our roofing team handles the panel installation, allowing you to focus on the electrical work, testing, commissioning and customer handover.

This is an opportunity to work with modern renewable technology, become part of a close-knit team and progress toward a Lead Engineer or Supervisor position.

This is not an apprenticeship vacancy. Applicants must be qualified electricians or have substantial experience on the electrical side of solar installations.

The role

You will work alongside our roofing and installation teams to complete the electrical side of domestic renewable energy installations.

Your responsibilities will include:

Installing and wiring solar PV electrical systems
Installing and connecting battery storage systems
Completing AC and DC electrical work
Installing and configuring inverters, gateways and associated equipment
Carrying out inspection, testing and commissioning
Completing electrical certification and handover documentation
Altering consumer units where required
Setting up monitoring platforms
Diagnosing and rectifying faults on existing PV and battery systems
Following drawings, method statements and installation procedures
Working professionally in customers' homes
Coordinating with the roofing team so installations run smoothly

Moving into renewables?

If you are a qualified electrician or experienced electrician's mate looking to move into the renewable energy sector, we will provide training on the solar PV, battery storage and EV systems we install.

You do not need to have experience with every product or system listed above. We are primarily looking for someone with sound electrical knowledge, the ability to carry out neat and safe electrical work, a willingness to learn and the right attitude.

You will work alongside an experienced electrician who has been with LET for more than seven years, giving you practical support while you build your experience in renewables.

This role has become available because our previous lead installer has progressed into an Operations Manager position within the business. That creates a genuine opportunity for the right person to develop with the company and progress toward a Lead Engineer or Supervisor role over time.

You will not be expected to install solar panels on roofs. Our roofing team carries out that work.

Essential:

Recognised electrical qualification, or demonstrable experience as an electrician's mate
Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, or willingness to obtain it
Full UK driving licence
Sound understanding of electrical installation principles
Ability to carry out neat, safe and reliable electrical work
Willingness to learn renewable technologies
Reliable, professional and customer-focused attitude
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

Solar PV experience
Battery storage or EESS experience
Inspection and testing qualification
EV charger installation experience
MCS installation experience
Backup or EPS system experience

_We will consider a strong electrician's mate with relevant hands-on experience, but the role will require them to develop toward the electrical competencies needed for the position._

You do not need to know every inverter or battery brand we use. We can train the right person on our systems. What we cannot easily teach is electrical competence, reliability, pride in your work and the willingness to improve.
