Essential Requirements

To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:

  • At least 12 months' experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training.
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills, including routines and nutrition.
  • Confidence using digital care planning systems to maintain accurate records.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required).
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent)


Desirable Qualifications

  • First Aid training or equivalent.


About The Role

Your Responsibilities as a Community Support Worker

As a Community Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.
  • Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities that promote independence and build social confidence.
  • Supporting with daily living skills, including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs, and personal routines.
  • Using PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage behaviours that may challenge.
  • Maintaining accurate digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Working collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to achieve positive outcomes.

Required Criteria

  • Confidence in using digital care planning systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient and professional attitude.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.


Desired Criteria

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults or Children).
  • Current First Aid training.
