About the Role

For some young people, success in Maths starts long before the right answer. It starts with feeling safe enough to try, developing confidence and discovering that numbers can make sense.

At 3 Dimensions School, we’re looking for a creative and compassionate Maths Teacher to join our Hummingbird Site on a maternity cover contract. You’ll support students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, SEMH, ADHD and trauma related needs, providing learning that is personalised around the individual rather than taking a one size fits all approach.

You’ll teach across KS3, KS4 and Post 16, combining functional Maths, Entry Level, GCSE where appropriate and practical numeracy for everyday life. With the freedom to adapt your teaching, you can focus on what each student needs to engage, progress and begin to see themselves as capable learners.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Maths learning across KS3, KS4 and Post 16
  • Teach a combination of functional Maths, Entry Level, GCSE where appropriate and practical everyday numeracy
  • Adapt lessons around individual learning profiles, abilities and EHCP outcomes
  • Use creative approaches including visual scaffolding, practical resources, chunking and overlearning to make Maths more accessible
  • Use trauma informed and low arousal approaches to help students regulate, engage and feel ready to learn
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and create personalised strategies that help students make meaningful progress
  • Build positive and trusting relationships that develop confidence, resilience and a willingness to try
  • Track and assess progress while recognising that achievement can look different for every student
  • Help students understand how Maths connects to independence, everyday life and preparation for adulthood
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide consistent and individualised support

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who can see beyond a traditional Maths classroom and find different ways to help young people understand, engage and succeed.

Essential:

  • Experience teaching or supporting Maths learning
  • Strong Maths knowledge with the ability to make concepts accessible and relevant
  • Confidence differentiating learning for a wide range of abilities and individual needs
  • Strong relationship building and classroom management skills
  • A patient, flexible and creative approach to teaching
  • A commitment to inclusive and student centred education
  • The ability to recognise and celebrate progress, including the smaller steps that can lead to significant achievements
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or currently working towards it
  • Experience working within SEN, specialist education or alternative provision
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills, Entry Level or GCSE Maths
  • Knowledge and understanding of EHCPs and preparation for adulthood
