About the Role

The CCTV Service plays an important role in helping to keep Somerset’s communities safe. Working closely with emergency services, local partners and council teams, the service supports crime prevention, public safety and the effective response to incidents across the county.

As a CCTV Operator, you'll be at the heart of our community safety operations, monitoring live CCTV systems and helping to identify and respond to incidents as they happen. Working as part of a dedicated control room team, you'll provide vital information that supports emergency services and helps protect residents, businesses and visitors across Somerset. This is a varied and rewarding role where your attention to detail, sound judgement and professionalism will make a real difference every day. How You'll Make a Difference

• Monitor CCTV systems and respond quickly to incidents, helping to support public safety and community wellbeing.
• Work closely with police, emergency services and local partners to provide accurate and timely information when it matters most.
• Maintain clear and accurate records, reports and evidence to support investigations and operational activity.
• Help ensure CCTV systems remain operational by reporting faults and supporting the smooth running of the control room.
• Safeguard sensitive information by following legislation, procedures and best practice standards at all times.

What You'll Bring

• Experience in a customer-focused, operational or security-related environment where you can remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to stay focused, identify important information and maintain accurate records.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the confidence to liaise with a range of partners and services.
• Good IT skills and the ability to confidently use digital systems to record, update and retrieve information.
• An understanding of confidentiality and the responsible handling of sensitive information, together with a commitment to achieving the required CCTV licensing and vetting standards.
• Must pass enhanced Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 2.
