Electrical Lecturer

As an Electrical Lecturer at New College Swindon, you'll play an important role in helping learners develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence they need to succeed in their studies and progress into their chosen careers.

You'll deliver high-quality teaching and learning, support learners throughout their studies and contribute to the continued development of the Electrical curriculum. This is an opportunity to bring your industry knowledge and experience into the classroom while helping learners achieve their goals.

What you'll do

• Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and learning across Electrical programmes.
• Plan and develop schemes of work, lesson plans and learning activities in line with current best practice.
• Set, assess and provide constructive feedback on student assignments and assessments.
• Support learners through personal tutoring and pastoral guidance.
• Evaluate student work and monitor progress, achievement and success.
• Provide opportunities for students to develop their knowledge and practical skills.
• Contribute to curriculum development and the continual improvement of teaching and learning.
• Maintain accurate and effective administration and student records.
• Attend programme area meetings and contribute to quality improvement activities.
• Keep your practical and theoretical subject knowledge up to date through relevant professional development.
• Undertake an annual teaching commitment of up to 864 hours (pro rata), depending on the number of courses.

What we're looking for

• Relevant qualifications and/or industry experience within Electrical Engineering.
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of the Electrical sector.
• The ability to deliver engaging teaching and learning that supports different learner needs.
• Good organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to provide effective feedback and support learners to achieve their potential.
• A commitment to professional development and keeping your subject knowledge current.
• A positive and collaborative approach to working with colleagues and supporting the wider curriculum area.
• A teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one, would be desirable.
