Join Bournemouth & Poole College as a Lecturer in Foundation and help shape the next generation of industry professionals.

This is a part-time, permanent position working 30 hours per week at our Poole campus, working Monday to Thursday 8.30 am-17.00 pm.

In return, you will receive a competitive annual salary of £24,810-£33,390 (£30,600-£41,182 FTE) depending on experience.

The Role

Foundation Learning is a diverse and rewarding area, supporting students from Pre-Entry to Level 2. Many learners have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Moderate Learning Difficulties, or have faced barriers to achieving their full potential in mainstream education.

What you'll be doing

As a Lecturer within the Foundation Learning team, you will deliver engaging and inclusive learning that helps students develop their Maths, English, vocational, personal and social skills, preparing them for further education, employment and independent adulthood.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver ambitious, inclusive and consistently high-quality teaching, learning and assessment that enables students to make substantial progress and achieve highly positive outcomes
  • Deliver expertly sequenced learning that supports students to build, retain and confidently apply knowledge, skills and professional behaviours over time
  • Act as an Academic Tutor where required, providing high-quality academic and pastoral support to promote student progress, wellbeing, confidence, independence and successful progression
  • Build positive, aspirational and inclusive relationships with students, creating an environment where all learners feel respected, supported and able to thrive
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain high standards of teaching practice, pedagogical expertise, subject knowledge, industry relevance, and vocational currency, including participation in appraisal, professional review, lesson visits, coaching and quality improvement activities
  • Contribute positively to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, innovation and high expectations by actively engaging in team meetings, curriculum development, cross-college initiatives and wider organisational activities

About You

  • GCSE Grade 9-4 (previously A-C) in English and Maths, or Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths
  • Degree, professional qualification or substantial industry experience
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification at Level 5 or above or willingness to achive within an agreed timeframe
  • Experienced in supporting students with varying abilities
  • Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and awareness of safeguarding in an educational setting
