We have a great opportunity to join our team as a Community Support Assistant, supporting people to live independently and confidently within their local community.

Our Community Support team provides housing-related support to individuals living in supported accommodation. The service helps people maintain their independence, sustain their home or tenancy, and develop the skills they need for everyday life.

You’ll work alongside individuals to help them gain, relearn or maintain essential life skills, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting and managing paperwork. Every person is different, so the support you provide will be shaped around their individual needs, choices and goals.

We’re looking for someone who has a genuine desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives. You’ll be person-centred in your approach, a supportive team player and able to bring a positive, flexible attitude to your work.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Supporting individuals in a way that promotes dignity, respect, choice and privacy.
• Providing housing-related support, including help with relevant administration and paperwork.
• Supporting individuals to develop and maintain the practical life skills needed for independent living.
• Encouraging and supporting people to access primary healthcare services when needed.
• Supporting individuals to access education, training, volunteering and paid employment opportunities.
• Providing support with aspects of personal care where identified within an individual’s care and support plan.
• Meeting regularly with individuals for support, planning and review sessions.
• Working with individuals to build confidence, achieve their goals and maintain their independence within the community.

What we’re looking for:

The successful candidate will have:

• The ability to follow care and support plans and work within agreed guidelines.
• An understanding of the CQC Fundamental Standards and the Care Act 2014.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• The confidence to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
• Good IT skills and the ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or a willingness to work towards this qualification.
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle to travel to clients’ homes.
