Job Requirements/Description
This is an opportunity for a fixed term contract or secondment for 25 hours a week for 6 months.

To provide an efficient and effective Medical Secretary service to a specific Consultant Psychiatrist and their medical team.

The post holder is required to manage their day to day workload and use their initiative without supervision which will require informed judgement, excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritise competing demands.

To ensure effective lines of communication between team members, patients, and others, whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.

  • T o provide a high-quality secretarial service to the Consultant, Associate Specialist Doctor, and medical team.
  • Arrangement of specific meetings, ward rounds, clinics, etc., co-ordinating and producing correspondence within Trust key target times, and dealing with relevant case notes.
  • Co-ordinate and organise actions arising from correspondence/MDT meetings and ensure prompt and efficient response, as required, by the Consultant and Medical Team. Co-ordination with other professionals, outside agencies, legal staff, Trust staff etc.
  • Attend meetings, as necessary, take and transcribe minutes, follow actions notes and disseminate information as required, which may include MDTs, Professionals and Best Interest Meetings i.e., meeting with patients/relatives, which may involve the recording or distressing situations/information.
  • Maintain a comprehensive filing system including management of an effective bring forward system, initiating appropriate action to ensure the accurate processing, storage, and future retrieval of all documentation.
Be a main point of contact for the speciality, having full knowledge of speciality processes, or know where to resource help or to find answers.

Provide effective communication between Clinicians, General Practitioners, multi-disciplinary teams, patients, managers, and all necessary internal & external contacts to achieve an excellent and smooth patient pathway.
