Summary
- This role is a 5-6 month contract with a local authority, offering a rate of £34.14 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. The Health & Safety Officer and CDM Adviser is tasked with delivering expert health and safety guidance within the Infrastructure & Transport Directorate. The individual will spearhead compliance efforts, foster a proactive safety culture, and ensure that risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed in line with applicable laws, Council policies, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary health and safety consultant for the Directorate's senior management team.
- Offer specialized advice on the implementation of health and safety laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Function as the chief CDM Adviser, ensuring adherence to CDM Regulations in relevant construction projects.
- Lead the creation, execution, and evaluation of the Directorate Health & Safety Management and Improvement Plan.
- Encourage a positive culture of health, safety, and wellbeing across all service areas.
- Perform audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Requirements:
Essential Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety advisory capacity within a complex organization.
- Demonstrated experience in managing health and safety initiatives, programs, and improvement projects.
- Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Essential Qualifications Required
- National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) qualification or equivalent.
- Level 2 qualification (or equivalent), including proficiency in Maths and English.
- Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
- Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
