Job Requirements/Description
We're excited to be looking for a qualified Accountant with exceptional Business Partnering skills to join our Corporate Finance team on a permanent, full-time basis. With the option of a traditional Monday to Friday working pattern or a compressed nine-day fortnight, this is a role that offers flexibility alongside genuine career impact. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in delivering 10,000 new affordable homes across South Wales over the next decade. Working closely with the Head of New Business, Property & Financial Planning, you'll provide the financial insight and challenge that helps shape investment decisions and turn development opportunities into reality. You'll support major development and investment projects from appraisal through to handover, helping ensure schemes are financially viable, sustainable and deliver long-term value for our customers and communities.

About the role

This is a varied and influential role where you'll combine strong communication skills, financial modelling, property accounting and leadership to support investment decisions across the Group. Leading a small team, you'll evaluate development opportunities and investment proposals, providing clear financial insight, challenge and assurance to support decision-making.

Using Excel, viability tools and Brixx, you'll assess financial performance, affordability and risk across a range of development and new business opportunities. You'll work closely with colleagues across Development, Asset Management, Care & Support and Finance, helping to ensure opportunities are financially viable and represent value for the Group.

As Development Accountant, you'll play a key role in managing property accounting throughout the development lifecycle, supporting financial reporting, audit requirements and investment monitoring up to the point homes are handed over. You'll also contribute to long-term planning and help shape the Group's future investment ambitions.

It's a fantastic opportunity to use your technical expertise, commercial insight and leadership skills to support the delivery of 10,000 new affordable homes across South Wales.

Please note: This role is being advertised as Development Accountant to reflect its close involvement in our development programme. However, throughout the recruitment process and once appointed, the role title used within Codi will be Property Accountant (Pre-Handover). This reflects the role's primary focus on property accounting, financial reporting and project monitoring throughout the development phase up to handover.

Skills and Experience Needed

We're looking for a qualified accountant with strong commercial awareness, experience of strong collaborations, financial modelling and property accounting, and the confidence to challenge assumptions, influence decisions and lead others. You'll enjoy analysing complex information, spotting risks and opportunities, and helping colleagues make informed investment decisions.

You'll be a CCAB qualified accountant with strong Excel skills and experience of undertaking complex financial appraisals, property or capital investment projects. Experience of Brixx and revenue viability modelling, particularly within Care & Support, would be advantageous.

You'll have a strong understanding of property accounting across the development lifecycle, alongside the ability to analyse complex information, challenge assumptions and present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.

We're also looking for someone who can build strong relationships across teams, develop others, manage competing priorities and continuously improve processes and ways of working.
