Job Requirements/Description

Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum ( depending on experience)

Working Pattern: Full-Time, Onsite

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Employment: Full-Time position directly with the client

The Opportunity

Mactech is currently recruiting for a Payroll Administrator to join a leading international engineering and construction organisation delivering a major scope of works at Hinkley Point C.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Payroll Administrator, or an administrator with payroll/finance experience, to establish themselves within the UK nuclear sector while working on one of the country’s largest and most significant infrastructure projects.

You will join an established project team delivering critical works associated with the power station’s turbine island and supporting infrastructure, within a highly regulated, safety-focused engineering environment.

The position is full-time and based onsite at Hinkley Point C, Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Payroll Administrator, you will provide day-to-day payroll and administrative support to the project workforce, helping ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the preparation and processing of payroll.
  • Checking and processing timesheets, working hours and overtime.
  • Maintaining accurate employee and payroll records.
  • Processing holidays, sickness, absences and other payroll information.
  • Supporting new starters, leavers and changes to employee details.
  • Responding to employee payroll and pay-related queries.
  • Assisting with payroll reports, reconciliations and general administration.
  • Working closely with HR, Finance and other project departments.
  • Handling sensitive employee and payroll information confidentially.
  • Ensuring records and documentation are maintained accurately within a highly regulated project environment.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and highly accurate, with the ability to manage confidential information professionally.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in payroll, finance or a similar administrative position.
  • Strong administrative and data-entry skills.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines.
  • Confidence dealing with employee queries.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, energy, nuclear or another major project environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

What’s in it for you?

This is more than simply another Payroll Administrator position. It provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience within the UK nuclear and major infrastructure sector.

You’ll benefit from:

  • A full-time position directly with the client, rather than a short-term agency assignment.
  • The opportunity to work on Hinkley Point C – the UK’s first new nuclear power station in more than 20 years.
  • Exposure to one of the UK’s largest and most complex engineering and infrastructure environments.
  • The opportunity to work within an established international engineering organisation delivering significant works at HPC.
  • Valuable experience within the highly regulated nuclear sector, strengthening your future career profile.
  • Exposure to a large and growing project workforce and interaction across Payroll, HR, Finance and project operations.
  • The chance to work alongside experienced engineering, construction and project professionals.
  • A consistent Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm working pattern.
  • The opportunity to develop your payroll and administration career while contributing to a major UK energy project
