Pre-Assessment Senior Healthcare Assistant

Job summary

We are looking to appoint a Senior Health Care Assistant who is enthusiastic and motivated with a passion for caring to join our dedicated Team in Pre-Assessment at Yeovil District Hospital.

As a senior health care assistant you will work as part of a large multidisciplinary team and will play a key role in delivering the fundamentals of care for patients under the supervision of a nurse, whilst supporting patients to achieve the shared goals. Individuals should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills who are willing to learn and take on new challenges as the service develops.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

To support and assist Registered Nurses/Assistant practitioners by providing direct nursing care and support for patients' personal care, investigations and treatment as directed and outlined in the patients' individual care plan, whilst preparing the patient for Surgery.

Runs own patient facing clinic, role includes taking weight and height, phlebotomy, and specimen collections/screening.

Using multiple digital systems and ECG recording. Escalating abnormalities to the senior Nurses and anaesthetists.

Experience of working in a care setting would be advantageous but all necessary skills training, professional updates and mandatory training as appropriate to the post will be provided.

Care certificate or NVQ Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent
