We are now recruiting for a Bridge Attendant.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust is currently recruiting for a Bridge Attendant to join the team based at the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. This is a customer-focused role, regularly dealing with users and visitors to the bridge. Duties include operating the toll barriers, monitoring CCTV and dealing with issues on the bridge, including responding to sensitive situations that require calm judgement and emotional resilience. Candidates will need to demonstrate a proven track record of excellent customer service. Flexibility and adaptability are essential.
Applicants should be able to meet the physical requirements of the role, including regular walking and manual tasks.
This role is shift-based with an average of 37.1 hours per week, covering mornings, afternoons and night shifts on a rotational basis. There is also the requirement to work some weekends and Bank Holidays as part of the rota.
Starting salary of approximately £33,000 per annum in line with Local Government pay scales.
The salary covers shift allowance and unsocial hours allowance. Candidates must be willing to cover absence and annual leave, for which overtime is paid.

Job Summary
The Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust is looking for a Bridge Attendant to join our dedicated team. The Trust is responsible for the running and maintenance of the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge and the collection of tolls. This role will be based at the Toll Houses on the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
The successful candidate must be customer-oriented, provide information to members of the public and be able to resolve problems that may arise on the bridge either from visitors or technical issues with barriers and machines.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a positive and proactive approach to assisting members of the public. They are physically fit, patient, empathetic, and communicative. They are confident at resolving issues and in dealing with the public. They must be happy to work shifts, work overtime, work outdoors and be able to take on new tasks when necessary.
