The Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone interested in working flexible shifts or short-term positions in a mental health support environment.

As a Relief Mental Health Support Worker, you will cover the absences of Mental Health Support Workers due to annual leave, vacant posts, training, sickness, and other reasons.

What you'll be doing
Covering for absences of Mental Health Support Workers through e.g. annual leave, vacant posts, training, sickness, etc. Your duties will include:

• Providing 1:1 and group support
• Supporting clients with attending appointments and shopping
• Encouraging participation & attending activities
• Supporting with medication, where required
• Liaising with external agencies, including health professionals

You will also have the opportunity to help deliver activities aimed at transitioning clients to independent living, contributing to a holistic mental health support service.

You will have a working knowledge of the needs and support requirements of people with complex mental health needs or worked in another social care setting.

• A working knowledge of the needs and support requirements of individuals with complex mental health needs or experience in a related social care setting

• Excellent communication skills to build trusting and professional relationships
• Strong digital and IT skills
• A passion for making a difference in a fast-paced environment
• High resilience and the ability to empower individuals to develop their skills, strengths, and talents
• Awareness of available community resources and organisations
• Comfortable in managing difficult or complex situations
• You are likely to have relevant experience in mental health support, education and training. Ideally, you will be available to participate in our 24-hour shift rota system and on-call rota.

Working Arrangements
Successful candidates will work at both St Andrews in Exmouth and Culverlands in Exeter, covering a variety of shifts including sleep-ins and weekends.

Shifts may vary and include hours from 0800-1600, 1200-2000, 1000-1800, 0930-1800, and 0900-2230 at our services.
