QA Engineer

As a QA Engineer within the Data Migrations team, you support the quality of our data migration pipelines from end to end. You will write and execute test cases against business requirements, validate that loan data has landed correctly on our database platforms, and work closely with our data engineers to catch data quality issues before they reach a client. You're comfortable moving between several migration projects at once, and you're just as happy writing a SQL reconciliation query as you are exploring an edge case a script hasn't covered.

We're growing our migration capability, and this role is part of that build-out. You'll work alongside our Senior QA Engineer and Engineering Team Lead to expand our QA testing practices across the migrations team, and you'll have a hand in developing new QA testing features and tooling as we bring new products online.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute test plans and test cases for data migration and ETL processes, based on business and technical requirements.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and integrity by writing code to reconcile source files against data loaded into our database platforms.
• Perform exploratory testing to uncover data quality issues, edge cases, and transformation errors that scripted tests might miss.
• Build and maintain automated test scripts to support regression testing as migration pipelines evolve.
• Manage testing activities across multiple concurrent migration projects, prioritising your workload to meet delivery timelines.
• Work closely with data engineers and the Professional Services team to understand migration requirements, business rules, and known data quality challenges.
• Provide accurate testing estimates during planning and refinement, and communicate progress, risks, and blockers clearly in stand-ups and other team ceremonies.

Requirements:

Essential:

• Previous experience in a QA / software testing role.
• Working knowledge of Python and SQL (essential) — other programming or scripting languages are a plus.
• Comfortable managing and prioritising testing work across multiple concurrent projects.
• Proven ability to develop and execute test cases based on business requirements, ideally within a data migration or ETL context.

Desirable:

• Experience testing data migration, ETL, or data pipeline processes specifically (e.g. source-to-target reconciliation, transformation validation).
• Knowledge of an additional programming or scripting language (e.g. Java, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working and tools such as Jira, Confluence and Git/Bitbucket.
