Make a lasting difference every single day.

GSL Education are proud to be working in partnership with an outstanding specialist primary provision in Bournemouth, seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

This is far more than a Teaching Assistant role. It's an opportunity to positively change the lives of children who need consistency, patience and encouragement to thrive.

The provision supports primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom also have additional needs including Autism. With small class sizes, high staffing ratios and a therapeutic, nurturing approach, every child is given the support they need to achieve both academically and personally. The school's ethos centres around helping pupils become resilient, safe and respectful, creating an environment where every child can succeed.

The Role

Working alongside experienced teachers and specialist staff, you will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children who require additional emotional support.
  • Help deliver engaging learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour using consistent, nurturing strategies.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and social development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child.

We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH, Autism, SEND or behavioural needs.
  • Are calm, resilient and able to build positive relationships.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can remain patient and positive in challenging situations.
  • Are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Have a full UK driving licence (advantageous but not essential).

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or someone looking to begin a rewarding career in specialist education, we'd love to hear from you.
