About the role
You will be required to travel to different services as needed, but will only ever work at one location per shift. There are no split shifts or late evening working requirements, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking for flexibility and a positive work-life balance. You'll provide cover for annual leave, sickness absence and busy periods, preparing and serving high-quality meals that support the wellbeing of the people we support.
As a Relief Cook, you'll play an important role in supporting Abbeyfield Wales services by preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals that promote the wellbeing, independence and choice of the people we support. You'll work in a person-centred way, taking account of individual dietary needs, preferences and nutritional requirements while ensuring a welcoming dining experience for residents.
Alongside cooking and meal preparation, you'll help maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, stock management and kitchen cleanliness. You'll be part of a caring, values-led team that is passionate about delivering great food and making a positive difference to the people we support every day.
Skills and Experience Needed
We're looking for someone who is passionate about providing great food and excellent customer service, with previous experience working as a cook or within a catering environment. You'll be confident preparing nutritious meals, maintaining food stocks, and working to high standards of food hygiene, health and safety.
You'll bring previous experience working as a Cook, or in a similar catering environment, along with a Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification and/or NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Hospitality and Catering (or equivalent). You'll be confident preparing and serving high-quality meals, maintaining food stocks and kitchen records, and ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic working environment through the effective use of kitchen equipment and tools. Strong organisational skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering an excellent dining experience for residents are essential
