Carbrey Group is expanding, and we are looking for compassionate and reliable Bank Waking Night Residential Support Workers to join our specialist children’s home in Gloucester.
This is a flexible bank opportunity working 11pm to 7am waking night shifts, providing consistent overnight care and helping to create a safe, stable and nurturing environment for children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
You will receive our standard rate of £13.46 per hour, with an enhanced rate paid for hours worked between midnight and 6am.
Our specialist home combines therapeutic care approaches, in house behavioural analysis, structured support and individualised care for children with complex needs, helping them build resilience, stability and brighter futures.

The Role
As a Bank Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you will provide support throughout the night, ensuring children and young people remain safe, settled and appropriately supported.
You will need to remain awake and alert throughout the full shift and be ready to respond to the individual needs of the children within the home.
You will also play an important role in maintaining a calm and nurturing environment overnight and ensuring the home is ready for the following day.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure children and young people are safe and appropriately supported throughout the night
Provide reassurance and emotional support to children who may struggle to settle or wake during the night
Respond appropriately to behaviours, incidents or safeguarding concerns
Support emotional regulation using agreed therapeutic care strategies
Maintain a calm, structured and nurturing home environment
Complete regular checks in line with individual care plans and risk assessments
Maintain accurate records, reports and handovers using IT systems
Complete appropriate household tasks during quieter periods
Support morning routines where required
Provide a clear and thorough handover to the incoming team
Work collaboratively with the wider residential team to provide consistent care
Follow safeguarding procedures, care plans, risk assessments and organisational policies at all times
Requirements
Essential:
Full UK Driving Licence (manual), held for at least 12 months
Availability to work waking night shifts from 11pm to 7am, including weekends
Ability to remain awake, alert and responsive throughout the full shift
Ability to work within a safeguarding and trauma informed environment
Flexibility and reliability to support the service through bank shifts
Desirable:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
Experience working within residential childcare, care or support
Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma or complex behavioural needs
You will also be:
Patient, resilient and compassionate
Calm and confident when responding to challenging situations
Reliable and able to work effectively throughout the night
A strong team player with good communication skills
Able to maintain professional boundaries
Committed to improving outcomes for children and young people
