Discover an exciting caseload and a wealth of experience with Axe Valley Vets, where we are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our established team in our Weston Super Mare Branch.

Your role will be a mixture of consulting and operating days with a team of RVN’s, ANA’s and Lead Receptionist and client care team to support you throughout the week.

Across the Axe Valley Group we have the caseload and experience to support both medical and surgical interests, and we will provide you with the skills/resources to reach your career goals.

Join a close-knit team that works together to provide the best care possible for our patients. Our Axe Valley team comprises our Director of Practice, Clinical Director, plus 10 Vets with a mixture of experience and newer graduates too, 9 RVNS, and our supportive admin team.


  • We have 6 sites; Blackford (our main site), Weston (consult & operating branch) and consult only branches in Cheddar, Wells, Winscombe and Woolavington.

How You’ll Make a Difference


As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.


You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.


More about the role


  • Ideally, we would like a full-time veterinary surgeon working a 40-hour week over 4 or 5 days. However, we are flexible and happy to discuss a working week that works for you, even if less than 40 hours.
  • One in Ten Saturday mornings.
  • No OOH, no full weekends (only Saturday morning) or Bank Holidays - allowing for a great work life balance.

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:


  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues

  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
