Job Requirements/Description
About the Role

Join a team delivering one of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects. As a Commissioning Engineer at Hinkley Point C, you’ll help bring the first new nuclear power station built in a generation closer to operation. If you enjoy solving technical challenges, seeing projects come to life and making a lasting impact, this is your opportunity. At EDF, #SuccessIsPersonal.

The Opportunity

As a Commissioning Engineer, you'll play a key role in preparing, testing and validating systems that will support the safe operation of Hinkley Point C. Working as part of a growing commissioning team, you’ll help ensure plant systems are ready for service while supporting EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain.

You’ll join us on a salary starting of £57,000 per annum, with the potential for an annual bonus. This role is based predominantly on site at #HinkleyPointC, with an expectation of being on site five days per week. On occasion, you may work from home or from other HPC offices where business needs allow.

This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer who can hit the ground running. You’ll be involved in reviewing and preparing commissioning documentation, supporting commissioning activities on site, executing testing programmes and managing close-out activities as systems progress towards operational handover.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Commissioning Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background who enjoys working in complex, highly regulated environments. You'll be proactive, technically capable and focused on delivering safe, high-quality outcomes. Are you experienced in…?

  • Mechanical, industrial, process or a related engineering discipline, supported by a degree-level qualification
  • Commissioning, maintenance or operational support within the nuclear sector or another regulated industry such as oil and gas, power generation or utilities
  • Reviewing and developing commissioning documentation, test procedures and system validation records
  • Technical troubleshooting, fault-finding and resolving commissioning issues in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Supporting the execution of commissioning activities through to completion, close-out and handover

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing, reviewing and improving commissioning documentation, test programmes and supporting records
  • Supporting the planning, delivery and close-out of commissioning activities across plant systems
  • Supervising and coordinating commissioning activities on site to achieve safe and successful outcomes
  • Analysing commissioning results, investigating anomalies and supporting resolution activities
  • Preparing system handover documentation and supporting the transition to operations teams

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary starting of £57,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.
