Be the Heart of Our People Services Team

At Coastland College, our people are at the heart of everything we do.

We are investing in our people, culture and capability to create an exceptional place to work, learn and grow. We believe that by supporting our colleagues to thrive, we can inspire excellence in every learner, strengthen our communities and help shape a confident, resilient and future-ready Dorset.

We are looking for enthusiastic, organised and customer-focused People Administrator to join our growing People Team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, supportive and forward-thinking People Team at a time of significant investment and positive change.

As a People Administrator, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient, professional and customer-focused People Service, supporting colleagues and managers across the College.

Working across the full range of People Services activities, you will provide administrative support throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment and onboarding, employee administration, learning and development, compliance activities, workforce data and wider People Team projects.

No two days will be the same. One day you could be supporting recruitment activity and onboarding new colleagues, while the next you could be coordinating training, preparing employment documentation, updating workforce records or supporting compliance and safeguarding processes.

Designed to offer flexibility and variety, this role will provide opportunities to develop skills and experience across all areas of the People function. Depending on business need, you may support recruitment, people operations, learning and development, compliance or wider People Team initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

As a People Administrator, you will:

Provide high-quality administrative support across the People Team.

Act as a first point of contact for People-related enquiries, providing excellent customer service to colleagues, managers and candidates.

Manage and monitor People Team inboxes, ensuring enquiries are responded to promptly and professionally.

Prepare contracts, letters, employment documentation and other People-related correspondence.

Support recruitment, onboarding and induction activities.

Maintain accurate employee records within iTrent and other People systems.

Assist with employee lifecycle administration, including contractual changes, probation reviews, fixed-term contracts and leaver processes.

Support learning and development activities, training administration and CPD programmes.

Assist with safeguarding and compliance processes, maintaining accurate and audit-ready records.

Support workforce reporting, audits and quality assurance activities.

Contribute to People Team projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work flexibly across different areas of the People function to support business priorities and service delivery.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.

Takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service.

Can manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Can handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Is comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 and digital systems.

Enjoys working collaboratively and building positive relationships with others.

Has previous administrative experience and a willingness to learn and develop.

Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and a positive approach to problem solving.

Shares our values and commitment to supporting colleagues and learners.

Experience within HR, recruitment, employee administration, learning and development or People Services would be advantageous. However, just as important is a positive attitude, strong organisational skills and a genuine passion for helping people.

Making Your Application Stand Out

The supporting statement is an important part of your application and gives you the opportunity to demonstrate why you are the right person for this role.

When completing your application, please provide clear examples of how your experience, skills and knowledge meet the criteria outlined in the Person Specification.
