Assistant Manager job in Dorset

Salary: Around £30,000 depending on experience, rising to £33,000 for a qualified Dispensing Optician.
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week
Location: North Dorset / East Dorset border

Important Requirement: Previous management experience within optics essential

The wider group operates well-equipped practices and has invested heavily in advanced clinical equipment, including OCT, also offering Optomap technology and advanced dry-eye services.

The current team is performing well, so this isn't about walking into a struggling store and having to turn everything around. Instead, you'll be joining an established team and taking the lead in maintaining that momentum, developing people and continuing to build on the success already there.

Responsibilities:

• Motivating and developing a diverse team
• Delivering staff training and supporting ongoing development
• Managing rotas and holiday planning
• Supporting absence, return-to-work and grievance processes
• Supporting strong sales performance and team targets
• Providing expert dispensing advice and delivering an exceptional customer experience

What we are looking for:

• Previous management experience within optics
• Strong dispensing and customer service experience
• Confidence in motivating a diverse team
• A collaborative and approachable leadership style
• Good organisational skills
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of how to drive performance
• The confidence to lead from the front while still being part of the team
