We currently have permanent opportunities for a Animal Welfare Officer to join our Technical teams in Willand, Devon.

    • Week 1 Monday - Friday
    • Week 2 Tuesday - Saturday
  • The rate of pay is £15.61 per hour

Main Responsibilities:

Your main responsibilities as an Animal Welfare Officer include:

  • Monitoring deliveries of live birds, ensuring steady supply is maintained
  • Check welfare status of birds as they arrive
  • Report any welfare issues to relevant people
  • Monitor and check operatives on the hanging stand
  • Assist the Senior Animal Welfare Manager in maintaining training and assessments for the COC applicants.

Product quality is everyone’s responsibility, and the highest standards of quality must be maintained throughout all stages of the manufacturing process.

In your specific role this includes carrying out tasks in line with documented procedures and ensuring the products that we produce meet customer specifications.

You will consistently refer to the relevant customer specification sheets to ensure that the portions / products that are being packed are in accordance with the agreed weight and size parameters and that there are no visible quality issues with the product e.g. excessive bruising, poor cutting standards, bone fragments, or excess fat

You are responsible for identifying and reporting any product defects or deviations to specifications and removing those products from the line. This should also include a root cause analysis to help identify what caused the quality issue. You will also coach others to ensure they fully understand and adhere to the relevant customer specification sheets
