At Callington Road Hospital, we’re proud to be at the heart of acute mental health services, providing compassionate and skilled care to adults in an inpatient setting. Our teams make a meaningful difference every day—and now, we’re looking for new colleagues to join us.
Whether you’re beginning your journey in mental health care or looking to grow within a supportive and dedicated team, this could be the perfect opportunity to start or progress your career.
We’re seeking individuals who are passionate, motivated, and truly committed to caring for people living with serious mental health illnesses. In this role, you’ll be part of a team offering high-quality, person-centred care—supporting people at some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Because our patients need us around the clock, you’ll need to be able to work a variety of shifts across a 24-hour period, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Cherry Ward functions as an 18 bedded mixed sex acute ward for adults of working age. The ward successfully opened in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and since opening, our well developed, diverse and high achieving staff team have received high praise. Cherry Ward takes pride on being a therapies driven acute inpatient ward where we focus on utilising least restrictive therapeutic approaches to caring for our service users.
The ward works closely with the other inpatient wards to facilitate treatment on both the AWP Callington Road Hospital site and other units across the locality. Working on Cherry Ward would provide you with a wealth of learning opportunities to develop new skills in working with service users from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, who are experiencing an acute episode of mental health problems.
Each patient has their own private en-suite room and there are shared communal areas for dining, activities, and relaxation. Additionally, there are separate spaces for female service users to ensure everyone feels secure and respected.
We are the lead provider of healthcare for people with serious mental illness, learning disabilities and autism across Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon and Wiltshire, and Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
We aim to provide High Quality, Compassionate Care everywhere, every day. This means our services will be safe, clinically effective and provide a positive all round experience for our patients, families and carers. And we believe passionately in treating everyone with kindness, respect and empathy.
Key to this is providing a supportive and safe environment for our 4,000 staff where we all feel welcome and able to do the best we can for those we support. Our staff and teams work incredibly hard delivering services across more than 90 locations, covering 2,200miles, to more than 1.8million people.
At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community.
