Team Leader | Supported Accommodation for Young People

Location: Bournemouth, between Boscombe and Southbourne

Salary : £30,000 to £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time

Shifts: Rota basis including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and Out of Hours responsibilities

Shift Times: Rota to include day shifts, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins. Out of Hours responsibilities will also form part of the rota.

Please note: We do not hold licences to support overseas candidates. You must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working with children and young people.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to join a therapeutic Supported Accommodation service located in Bournemouth, supporting young people aged 16 to 18 who may have experienced early life trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, complex or challenging behaviour, neglect, family breakdown or disruption.

The service provides 24-hour individualised support within high-quality three and four-bedroom homes, helping young people develop confidence, resilience, independence and the practical skills they need as they transition into adulthood.

This role is suitable for candidates commuting from Bournemouth, Boscombe, Southbourne, Christchurch, Poole, Ferndown, Wimborne and surrounding areas.

As an experienced Team Leader, you will work closely with the Registered Service Manager to lead, motivate and support the staff team, ensuring young people receive consistent, high-quality and person-centred support.

You will act as a positive role model for the team, promoting a therapeutic approach based around PACE principles and helping staff develop their therapeutic parenting skills.

You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of safeguarding, recording, support planning and practice, whilst ensuring young people are kept safe, listened to and supported to achieve positive outcomes.

The role will involve leading shifts, supporting staff development, contributing to supervision and reflective practice, monitoring recording systems and working alongside external professionals and agencies to ensure the individual needs of each young person are met.

You will also take responsibility for supporting individual young people as a Key Worker, promoting education, training and employment, encouraging independence and ensuring their views, wishes and choices are heard.

Requirements:

• A positive, caring and compassionate approach to supporting young people.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children and young people.
• Experience supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, trauma or complex needs is desirable.
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential.
• Previous experience supervising or supporting a staff team is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organisational and IT skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A motivated, flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Ability to remain calm and effective when working under pressure.
• Professional approach with the ability to accept direction and guidance.
• Understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining the safety and wellbeing of young people.
• Understanding of equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.
• Full clean driving licence is desirable.
• Willingness to complete all mandatory training and any training required for the role.
• Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Diploma where required.
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK without sponsorship.
