Duty Manager

How you'll make a difference:

As Duty Manager, you will support the effective day-to-day operation of Alexandra Way Care Home. Working collaboratively with both day and night teams, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality care and support to residents. In partnership with the Registered Manager, or in their absence, you will take responsibility for maintaining the wellbeing, safety, and welfare of residents, ensuring the home operates in accordance with organisational policies, regulatory requirements, and best practice standards.

What you will be doing:

• You will assist with the management of the care home, ensuring a safe, caring, and effective environment for residents. This will include overseeing risk assessments, COSHH compliance, and infection prevention and control measures.
• With support from the Registered Manager, you will ensure the home operates in line with current and emerging legislation, organisational policies, local authority requirements, and Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
• To ensure services are delivered to a high standard, you will monitor the quality of the work, using performance data and audits to identify areas for improvement and effectively target and allocate resources.
• Using your expertise, you will carry out hospital or home visits, assessing prospective residents to determine whether their needs can be safely and appropriately met within the home.
• It will be key for you to support the Registered Manager with recruitment, staff sickness and performance, helping to maintain a skilled and motivated workforce. As an NVQ/CQF Assessor, you will also assess, mentor, and support staff in achieving their qualifications and professional development goals.

What we need from you:

• It is essential that you have experience of working within a regulated service at a supervisory level within a similar service setting.
• You will hold or be working towards a professional qualification e.g. degree, NVQ 4 or equivalent in social work, social care, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and best practice.
• Due to the nature of this role, you must be able demonstrate up to date knowledge of the Care Standards Act 2010, the Care Act 2014, MCA, DoL’s and safeguarding procedures, and be able to apply this knowledge to support safe, lawful, and effective service delivery.
• To ensure services are delivered efficiently and to a high standard, you must have experience of monitoring resources and managing budgets effectively.

What you need to know:

• The role is 21 hours per week.
• Salary is pro-rata to hours worked.
• Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) basic check is obtained.

Interviews will be held on 20th October.
