We're looking for an Asset Management Excellence Lead to play an important role in strengthening and improving Wessex Water's asset management practices.
This is an engaging role with a strong focus on results, offering the opportunity to contribute to and lead a range of projects that embed consistent best practice, improve asset data quality, and enhance risk-based decision-making and whole-life asset performance.
Working across multiple teams and people, you will help shape improvements and take an active role in delivering them. You'll work with others to translate objectives into well-managed projects, supporting work through to completion and helping to ensure lasting change.
You'll contribute as a growing subject matter specialist, building your experience whilst helping to advance how asset information, planning and decision support are applied across the business.
What you'll do
- Lead and deliver a range of improvement projects, from problem setting and business case creation through to completion.
- Apply structured project management approaches to plan, start, and govern work, ensuring scope, milestones, links, risks, and outcomes are clearly set out and actively managed.
- Deliver practical, fit-for-purpose solutions (including processes, tools, data improvements, and guidance) that directly enhance asset management ability and performance.
- Work with others to translate asset management strategy, legal requirements and business needs into clear, achievable outcomes across systems, processes and ways of working.
- Drive the consistent use of best practice across projects, programmes, and business functions.
- Work with teams from different areas to improve asset data quality, information handling, and data flows, enabling better asset investment planning and operational decision-making.
- Ensure project outcomes are embedded and sustained through effective change management, including involvement of key people, communication, training, and transition to business-as-usual.
- Chances to represent asset management best practice within project boards, programme groups, and working teams.
What you'll need
- Experience working in infrastructure, utilities or other regulated sectors.
- An understanding of asset management principles (eg, ISO 55000) and how these translate into practical work would be an advantage.
- Relevant professional qualification (or working towards one) in asset management.
- Proven experience leading and delivering improvement or change work, with clear responsibility for outcomes.
- Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) or similar experience in structuring and delivering projects end-to-end is helpful.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Excellent project and programme skills, with the ability to move from strategy through to hands-on work and clear results.
- Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and build alignment without direct authority.
- A confident, results-focused mindset with a proactive approach to driving improvement and solving problems.
- An analytical approach, with strong attention to detail and a focus on value, risk, and benefits tracking in an asset management context.
- The ability to work both independently and with others within a complex organisation.
- Strong planning and organisation skills, able to manage competing demands and deliver to agreed timelines.
- A practical, outcome-focused approach, with a strong commitment to keeping people informed and engaged.
- Full UK driving licence.
- This role will be based at our head office in Bath.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development chances.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The chance to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The chance to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The chance to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
