This role is within our deaf services, supporting deaf people and individuals with hearing impairments to live independently, confidently and inclusively within their communities. Communication is at the centre of this role, and you will support people using British Sign Language (BSL), visual communication and person-centred approaches.

This position is all about building positive relationships with the people you will be supporting while helping them with their day-to-day routines in line with their personal support plans. This may include support with dressing, personal care, finances, medication, attending appointments, employment, volunteering, hobbies and accessing the wider community.

Who will you be supporting?

This is a role with a high degree of responsibility which is really varied, sometimes challenging and often fun.

The job involves encouraging and supporting the people we support to live as independently as possible, make their own choices and do the things they enjoy.

In post you will be required to:

• Take responsibility for clear and accessible communication.
• Undertake all required training and, if new to social care, complete the Care Certificate within the probationary period.
• Work as part of a team supporting Deaf people and promoting inclusive communication.
• A recognised qualification in BSL is desirable but not essential, as full training and the opportunity to gain a qualification in signing will be provided.

The successful applicant will also be subject to an enhanced DBS check the cost of which to be met by United Response.
